FORNEY, Texas – No injuries were reported following an accident Thursday morning involving a Forney Independent School District school bus and a minivan on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Trooper Kyle Bradford, the bus was traveling northbound on FM 548 as it approached the intersection of Reeder Lane. A minivan stopped at the Reeder Lane stop sign failed to yield to the right-of-way and pulled out in front of the bus and was rear-ended by the bus.
The bus was traveling at a slow rate of speed because a truck in front of it had just turned onto Reeder Lane. The impact between the bus and minivan was minor and no injuries were reported in the bus or the minivan.
The bus was carrying approximately 45 North Forney High School JROTC cadets at the time of the accident, according to Forney ISD Communications Director Larry Coker.
The Forney Fire Department and an East Texas Medical Center ambulance evaluated the students and the other individuals involved in the accident at the scene.
