One airlifted following accident on U.S. Highway 80, service road

SUNNYVALE, Texas — Police say a driver may have suffered a medical emergency just moments before his truck left the highway and overturned near the service road on Sunday morning.

SUNNYVALE, Texas — Police say a driver may have suffered a medical emergency just moments before his truck left the highway and overturned near the service road on Sunday morning.

The accident was reported just after 11 a.m. on the eastbound service road of U.S. Highway 80 just west of Long Creek Road in Sunnyvale, Texas. Police say the man, described as elderly, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 when they believe he may have suffered a medical emergency forcing his truck off the highway and across the service road where it overturned near a tree line.

Sunnyvale Fire Rescue also responded to the accident and extricated the man, according to Mesquite Scanner.

The man was flown by a CareFlite medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
