KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was injured after two separate crashes in a two-mile stretch of Interstate 20 on Tuesday morning.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was injured after two separate crashes in a two-mile stretch of Interstate 20 on Tuesday morning.

One of the wrecks occurred on eastbound Interstate 20 just past Hiram Road near mile marker 509. Three vehicles were involved in this wreck, according to Elmo Volunteer Fire Department Chief Randy Brumbelow. One person was extricated from their vehicle and later transported by CareFlite to an area hospital.

Near mile marker 511, a utility truck pulling a trailer struck a bridge guardrail. The trailer became disconnected and continued on the highway for approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop in the left lane. The truck entangled in the guardrail and teetered over the bridge. A heavy duty wrecker was called to winch the truck back onto the road. No injuries were reported in this crash. The

Traffic was able to pass in the left shoulder through both wrecks. As of 9:23 a.m., traffic was backed up to mile marker 506.
