DALLAS COUNTY, Texas — One person was killed following an Amtrak passenger train collision with an 18-wheeler near the Kaufman-Dallas County line on Thursday afternoon.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the 4000 block of East Scyene Road just west of the Lawson road crossing.
The collision caused the 18-wheeler overturn and ignite and also caused what appears to be smoke or fire damage to the front portions of the Amtrak train.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to NBC DFW the driver of the truck was killed. No identity has been released. No injuries were reported for the 44 passengers of the train.
Firefighters from Mesquite and Sunnyvale responded to the crash.
