FORNEY, Texas — One person was transported by a CareFlite medical helicopter following a major accident on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, on FM 548 between Pecan Lane and Grayhawk Drive and resulted in the road being closed.
A red sedan lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic where it struck a pickup truck, according to Forney Police Department Detective Michael Clay. What caused the car to lose control remains under investigation.
The red sedan, traveling south, struck the front of the pickup truck, traveling north, with the rear of the vehicle. The sedan veered off into the shoulder and its male occupant was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.
The man was taken by a CareFlite medical helicopter to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, in serious condition, according to Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend.
Police remained on scene for nearly two hours conducting an accident investigation. The road was reopened at approximately 11:45 a.m.
