One transported after striking highway cable median

FORNEY, Texas — Less than an hour after a one-vehicle accident on westbound U.S. Highway 80 involving a vehicle striking a light pole, another vehicle lost control and struck the cable median of the highway less than a mile down the road.

FORNEY, Texas — Less than an hour after a one-vehicle accident on westbound U.S. Highway 80 involving a vehicle striking a light pole, another vehicle lost control and struck the cable median of the highway less than a mile down the road.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, the Forney Fire Department and police department were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on westbound U.S. Highway 80 just west of Liberty Hill. The vehicle, a sedan, lost control, spun backwards, and struck the center cable median of the highway.

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly unconscious prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene. The driver was taken by an East Texas Medical Center ambulance to Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas.

The left lane of the highway was temporarily closed while a flatbed wrecker loaded the vehicle.

The accident was cleared at 12:55 p.m.
