FORNEY, Texas — More than 600 toys were collected after a two-week Toys for Forney Kids toy drive at Forney High School and North Forney High School and a charity toy drive football game between the Forney Fire Department and the Forney Public Works Department.
FORNEY, Texas — More than 600 toys were collected after a two-week Toys for Forney Kids toy drive at Forney High School and North Forney High School and a charity toy drive football game between the Forney Fire Department and the Forney Public Works Department.
The Toys for Forney Kids, in its first year, aims to help local kids for Christmas through the Forney Lions Club and the Forney Rotary Club. The drive at the school was sponsored by the Forney Independent School District Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
The Forney Fire Department led the Forney Public Works Department, 27-12, to take the win and fire-hydrant trophy during the teams second matchup. Both teams took the field donning uniforms, refs, and a coin toss by City Manager Brian Brooks.
“This game is 100-percent employee driven,” said Brooks before the kick-off. “I’m so proud of you and thank you so much for what you’re doing.”
Both teams exchanged several touchdowns before the fire department score two uncontested to seal the win.
