TERRELL, Texas — A pedestrian who was struck by a truck on Airport Road early Friday morning and flown to a Dallas-area hospital with serious injuries has died, according to police.

TERRELL, Texas — A pedestrian who was struck by a truck on Airport Road early Friday morning and flown to a Dallas-area hospital with serious injuries has died, according to police.

The crash was reported at 5:10 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015, in the 400 block of Airport Road, just south of State Highway 34, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.

“The pedestrian was struck while walking in the roadway in the 400 block of Airport Road near but just west of the railroad grade crossing,” stated Sansom. The vehicle was described as a 2005 silver Dodge pickup.

“The pedestrian was seriously injured and was flown by Care Flight Ambulance to Parkland of Dallas,” he said. “Due to the nature of his injuries, Advanced Accident Investigators responded as well as Terrell Police Forensics.”

“His current condition is serious, but he was stable at the time of transport,” stated Sansom. On Friday night, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office notified the Terrell Police Department the man, identified as 33-year-old Kelvin Stewart of Terrell, Texas, died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.

Southbound SH 34 traffic to Airport Road was diverted to Industrial Boulevard while accident investigators were on scene. Additionally, drivers were able to access the southern portions of Airport Road via Interstate 20 and Wilson Road.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
