MESQUITE, Texas — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 20 early Saturday morning, according to police.

The Mesquite Police Department received the 911 call for the vehicle-pedestrian crash at approximately 1:05 a.m., the Mesquite Police Department confirmed to inForney.com.

The pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 20 approximately a quarter-mile east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 740 — just south of Forney, Texas.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 21-year-old Heartland, Texas, man, stopped at the scene.

Further details on what caused the crash and the name of the pedestrian have not yet been released.

The Mesquite Police Department, Mesquite Fire Department, and the Forney Fire Department responded to the crash.
