FORNEY, Texas — A pickup truck went over a bridge guardrail on U.S. Highway 80 — which spans the East Fork Trinity River near the Dallas-Kaufman County line.
The truck went over the guardrail, fell approximately 20 feet, and came to a rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle on land — approximately 30 feet from the river. The left lanes of both east and westbound U.S. Highway 80 were immediately closed following the accident for emergency personnel.
The driver of the vehicle was removed from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Several witnesses stopped to aid the driver while emergency responders from Kaufman County, Forney, Sunnyvale, and Dallas County arrived.
A heavy-duty wrecker winched the vehicle back onto the highway from the ground below.
