FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a preliminary plat for Windmill Farms’ Phase 5A at a Thursday night meeting.
The phase will include a proposed 151 lots on a 32.823-acre plat just north of Phase 5B which has begun construction across Windmill Farms Boulevard from Brown Middle School after approval by the Forney City Council in April 2014. Phase 5A’s preliminary plat will go before the city council before final approval.
The Forney Planning and Zoning Commission was presented the residential subdivision preliminary plat because of a 2003 agreement between the City of Forney, Leman Development LTD, Kaufman Land Partners LTD, and the Kaufman County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1A which requires the City of Forney Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council to approve all plats.
Windmill Farms must be developed according to the standards set forth in the City of Forney Subdivision Ordinance and the City of Forney inspects the construction of roads, drainage, and water and sewer lines which are constructed in the segment of Windmill Farms within the City of Forney extra-territorial jurisdiction, according to the City Council's agenda bill.
