TERRELL, Texas — A plug-in candle was the source of a fire in Oak Ridge which completely destroyed the inside of the home, according to the Oak Ridge Fire Marshal.
TERRELL, Texas — A plug-in candle was the source of a fire in Oak Ridge which completely destroyed the inside of the home, according to the Oak Ridge Fire Marshal.
The candle was plugged into an electrical cord in a bedroom which caused the fire, Fire Marshal Jesse Wood said. The fire was extremely hot, he said, and it entered the attic and spread throughout the home. Smoke and water damage was reported in portions of the home not damaged by fire.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the call at approximately 6 p.m. at a home in the 7000 block of State Highway (SH) in Oak Ridge, Texas, which is located between Terrell and Kaufman.
Mutual aid was requested from the Kaufman Fire Department, the Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, and the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department.
No injuries were reported in the fire. The Red Cross is temporarily assisting the occupants with food, shelter, and clothing.
