FORNEY, Texas — Power outages and malfunctions with the railroad crossings in Forney were reported on Tuesday as schools were letting out — causing major traffic delays.
The four downtown crossings, South Chestnut Street, Center Street, Elm Street, and South Bois D’Arc Street, as well as the Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 crossing were malfunctioning after a serious of power outages left 3,093 Oncor customers without power.
The outages, according to Oncor representative Terri Shatter, were restored remotely minutes after the outages were reported. The outage may have caused the railroad arms to malfunction.
A Union Pacific Railroad employee said they were working to repair a blown fuse. The railroad crossings were functioning properly as of 3:47 p.m.
