KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A rollover accident Monday slowed eastbound Interstate 20 (I20) traffic near the Kaufman-Van Zandt County line.
The accident was reported around 5:45 p.m. on eastbound I20 near mile marker 512 — just west of the Texas Department of Public Safety’s weigh station. A single vehicle overturned and came to a rest in the ravine parallel to the highway.
The Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, an East Texas Medical Center ambulance, and the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the accident.
Its unknown at this time if there were any injuries in the accident.
The right lane of I20 was temporarily closed while emergency personnel were on scene. Both lanes have been reopened. Police remain at the scene and are in the right shoulder. However, as of 6:05 p.m., on-looker delays persisted in the area.
