SCURRY, Texas — Friends and family paid their final respects to a man who served his community for more than 25 years as a volunteer firefighter.

SCURRY, Texas — Friends and family paid their final respects to a man who served his community for more than 25 years as a volunteer firefighter.

Scurry Volunteer Fire Department Captain Tommy LaCour died at the age of 49 after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. On Friday, fellow fire service members filled the sanctuary, along with friends and family, at Victory Baptist Church in Scurry to pay their final respects to LaCour.

Following the funeral services, LaCour’s casket was lifted onto a Scurry Volunteer Fire Department fire truck which led a procession to Mount Olive Cemetery where he was laid to rest.
