SCURRY, Texas — A Scurry, Texas, man was transported by a medical helicopter after a single vehicle accident on Farm-to-Market (FM) 1388.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the accident at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The accident was on FM 1388 south east of Scurry — approximately two miles north of FM 148.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an elderly man was attempting to pass another vehicle while traveling northbound. As he was passing, the vehicle went into the southbound ditch. The driver then overcorrected which sent his vehicle spinning back into the northbound lanes. The vehicle went into the northbound should and struck a tree.
Firefighters had to extricate the man from the vehilce. A CareFlite medical helicopter transported the man to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
The Scurry Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, an East Texas Medical Center ambulance, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident.
