FORNEY, Texas — An alleged senior prank prompted a brief campus lockdown at Forney High School on Thursday, May 28, 2015.
“Teachers, lock your doors. The building is in lockdown at this time. All teachers please lock your doors. The building is in lockdown at this time,” Forney High School Principal Steve Whiffen could be heard stating over the school’s intercom system around 11:30 a.m.
The lockdown lasted approximately 5 to 10 minutes, Forney Independent School District spokesperson Larry Coker told inForney.com.
Approximately 30 to 40 students were being disruptive and going into classrooms, stated Coker. “The school went into lockdown to prevent students from going into classrooms.”
Coker said there were not any weapons or injuries reported during the lockdown or the during the events that prompted the lockdown. Coker could not confirm the age of the students involved or if it was related to a senior prank.
On Twitter, students posted videos and photos of the incident which was described as a senior prank. Several students were seen dressed in costumes and carrying swimming pool foam noodles.
One student alleged the students were attempting to “larp,” or live action role play, in the cafeteria just prior to the lockdown.
The students involved in the incident were brought to the front office and could face disciplinary action.
