KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms early Thursday morning and afternoon could potentially transition into severe thunderstorms in Kaufman County after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms early Thursday morning and afternoon could potentially transition into severe thunderstorms in Kaufman County after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas.
“Although the cap is steadily eroding, thunderstorms that are able to tap the unstable air beneath the cap are unlikely to develop until after 4 p.m.,” stated the NWS. “A slowly advancing cold front will be the focus for the initiation of thunderstorms late this afternoon.”
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued by the NWS at 3:20 p.m. for Kaufman County until 10 p.m.
Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats of any storms that become severe as well as frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Flooding and tornadoes are low to medium threats with tonight's storms, according to a NWS graphic.
