FORNEY, Texas — The South Bois D Arc Street railroad crossing in downtown Forney was re-opened Tuesday night after crews made completed repairs.

An 18-wheeler, hauling an oversized load on a lowboy trailer, scraped the top of the crossing and dislodged a section of steel flashing and scraped the concrete surface at approximately 5 p.m. Crews worked for several hours to replace a section of rail which was bent when the trailer dragged across the tracks.

Union Pacific halted all trains after the damage was reported.

The 18-wheeler was initially lodged on the crossing but was able to maneuver forward north of the railroad tracks.

The Elms Street, Center Street, and Cedar Street crossings remained open.
