FORNEY, Texas — The portion of the south service road of U.S. Highway 80 in Forney has been closed due to storm damage.

The Forney Police Department received several complaints from drivers on Saturday night for large potholes in the service road. The service road is currently under construction and heavy rains washed away the gravel rock base in some areas, creating large potholes.

At the request of the Forney Police Department, the Public Works Department closed the service road from Pinson Road to Park Creek Avenue, according to Public Works Director Chris Metz. The road will remain closed until the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor working on the service road can make necessary repairs to the road.

The service road is expected to be closed overnight and possibly reopened on Monday.
