TERRELL, Texas — The City of Terrell Animal Adoption Center reached MAXCAP level red yesterday and is hosting an animal adoption event Saturday to lower the shelter’s census numbers.
The adoption event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Tractor Supply which is located at 100 State Highway 205 in Terrell, Texas.
The adoption event will allow for any of the available animals to be fostered, rescued, or adopted to reduce the shelter’s MAXCAP level.
The shelter has several dogs available for adoption on their Facebook Page and their website. Some of the animals have been sponsored which means the cost of their adoption has already been paid. Unsponsored animals can be adopted for $68 which includes the cost to spay or neuter the dog and also provide a rabies vaccination.
Individuals can also foster the dogs while they are at the shelter. Fostered animals are not included in the daily census count.
Adult dogs, puppies, and “Morris the cat” are available for adoption, according to the shelter’s Facebook Page.
The shelter can only accept cash, in denominations of $20 or less, or checks during the adoption event.
MAXCAP level red “indicates the shelter population is at or above 30 animals and signals the shelter is no longer able to provide a Capacity for Care for the animals in their charge,” the shelter stated. “Action shall be taken within 48 hours of reaching MAXCAP Red status to remedy the situation, up to and including humane euthanasia.”
