TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Adoption Animal Center is seeking approximately $2 million in donations to achieve a no-kill status through the construction of additional facilities.
The center created a Go Fund Me page in hopes of achieving their goal and has so far collected $700 from just seven people.
The center currently has 16 cages to serve Terrell which has a fast-growing population of over 16,000 people and would need, in addition to other facilities, at least 50 cages to achieve no-kill status.
“This makes it difficult to remain Low Kill in a City that is growing quickly,” states the center’s Go Fund Me page. “If the Terrell Animal Adoption Center had a larger facility the possibility of one day being a No Kill Animal Shelter could be more than just a dream.”
“With budget restraints the City of Terrell cannot afford to build a brand new shelter at this time,” stated the center. “So we are going to ask the amazing community in Terrell and the amazing animal lovers across the world for help.”
The $2 million would build an additional 50 general dog cages, a cat room, a puppy room, a sick room, a quarantine room, a lab, a break area, a supply closet, a file room, a washer and dryer area, and a play yard for potential adopters to interact with the animals. It would also include a front lobby area for adopters.
