TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Animal Adoption Center is holding three emergency adoption events beginning today, Thursday, March 12, 2015, and continuing through Saturday if the need persists.

TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Animal Adoption Center is holding three emergency adoption events beginning today, Thursday, March 12, 2015, and continuing through Saturday if the need persists.

The shelter took in 11 dogs from a recent animal investigation which brought the shelter’s census numbers above their maximum capacity of care, also known as MAXCAP level red. “Action shall be taken within 48 hours of reaching MAXCAP Red status to remedy the situation, up to and including humane euthanasia,” read a statement on the shelter’s Facebook Page.

The adoption events will allow for any of the available animals to be fostered, rescued, or adopted to reduce the shelter’s MAXCAP level.

The SPCA of Texas rescued seven dogs from the shelter which allowed their MAXCAP level to be reduced to yellow, the shelter announced on Thursday.

The shelter has several dogs available for adoption on their Facebook Page and their website. Some of the animals have been sponsored which means the cost of their adoption has already been paid. Unsponsored animals can be adopted for $68 which includes the cost to spay or neuter the dog and also provide a rabies vaccination.

Individuals can also foster the dogs while they are at the shelter. Fostered animals are not included in the daily census count.

The shelter is also asking any rescue organizations to consider taking their available dogs.
