TERRELL, Texas — A Terrell area home was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night which prompted a multi-department response.
Just after 5 p.m., the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, and the Ables Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire located in the 17000 block of Farm-to-Market (FM) 429 — in between Terrell and Elmo.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported the home was fully engulfed in flames. An elderly female, who was home at the time of the fire, was able to safely evacuate the house.
Firefighters attacked the front of the home from the exterior and sent an attack team through the rear door for an interior attack.
The fire was tapped out at 6:07 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene attacking hot spots.
The American Red Cross of Kaufman County responded to provide assistance to the homeowner.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene and will be investigating the cause of the fire.
No injuries were initially reported. This is a developing story.
