Upon arrival, firefighters reported a fully-involved vehicle fire on the shoulder of eastbound U.S. Highway 80.

While the fire engine was maneuvering to block for the vehicle fire, it was struck by another vehicle, according to Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on scene. No injuries were reported in the crash. The fire engine sustained minor damage.

Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 was closed at Windmill Farms Boulevard and diverted onto the service road where a two-vehicle crash was reported in the traffic backup.

Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire and the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the dire. The vehicle’s owner was not on scene at the time of the fire.
