TERRELL, Texas β The Walmart in Terrell was evacuated after a clothing rack was set on fire Friday night.
Just after 8:30 p.m., The Terrell Fire Department was dispatched to the Walmart located at 1900 West Moore Avenue for a clothing rack reportedly on fire.
Walmart employees used fire extinguishers to douse the flames, according to Terrell Fire Department Fire Marshal Captain Tom Cooper.
βThe workers did a good job of stopping the fire,β stated Cooper. βThey get the credit for this one.β
The store was evacuated and later reopened around 9 p.m. The clothing rack was located in the boys clothing section.
There was not sufficient video surveillance in the area of the fire to immediately determine who had started the fire, according to Cooper. The fire remains under investigation.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department and Forney Fire Department were dispatched for mutual aid but later disregarded.
