FORNEY, Texas --Three separate crashes caused major rush-hour delays on Wednesday morning, grid-locking Dallas-bound traffic from leaving the Forney area.
At approximately 6:40 a.m., the Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, and CareFlite responded to westbound U.S. Highway 80 just before the Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 bridge for a three-vehicle crash.
One person was injured in this wreck, which closed the left lane, and was taken by CareFlite ambulance to Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas. The wreck was cleared at approximately 7:15 a.m. with two of the three vehicles being towed from the scene.
Just minutes after the U.S. Highway 80 crash call, the Forney Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to FM 548 in between FM 740 and Grayhawk Drive for a two-vehicle crash which blocked southbound FM 548 and forced alternating lanes of traffic. Emergency personnel remain on scene as of 7:24 a.m. and are attempting to move the two wrecked vehicles to the right shoulder.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department also received a call about a crash on eastbound Interstate 20 just before FM 148.
