FORNEY, Texas — A home in Travis Ranch sustained fire, smoke, and rain damage after a fire Monday morning which was likely caused by lightning, according to firefighters.
FORNEY, Texas — A home in Travis Ranch sustained fire, smoke, and rain damage after a fire Monday morning which was likely caused by lightning, according to firefighters.
The fire began just before 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Enchanted Rock Drive in Travis Ranch amid severe storms passing through the area. The homeowner called 911 and all residents were able to exit the home safely.
The Forney Fire Department arrived with flames showing through the roof of the single-story home. The fire damaged the front portion of the home and burned a hole through the roof, exposing the attic.
Two accidents in Forney’s fire district were also reported while firefighters were fighting the house fire. No injuries were reported in those.
The Forney Fire Department along with members of the Forney Volunteer Fire Department, Terrell Fire Department, and the Terrell Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the house fire. An East Texas Medical Center ambulance also responded.
A Kaufman County Fire Marshal is on scene. No other property damage or injuries were reported.
