Two airlifted following rollover crash on Interstate 20, one ejected

ELMO, Texas — Two people were airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital on Sunday night following a rollover crash on Interstate 20 which resulted in one person being ejected from their vehicle.

ELMO, Texas — Two people were airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital on Sunday night following a rollover crash on Interstate 20 which resulted in one person being ejected from their vehicle.

The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. on westbound Interstate 20 between Hiram Road and Farm-to-Market (FM) 429.

According to police, an SUV was traveling westbound when it entered the center median, veered back across the highway, and down an embankment into a line of trees and fence. The SUV overturned several times which resulted in one of the passengers being ejected from the vehicle and a second passenger being partially ejected.

Those two passengers were flown by CareFlite medical helicopter to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

A third passenger was uninjured and, according to police, did not have a scratch on him.

Westbound Interstate 20 was initially closed to land the two helicopters on the highway just west of the crash. The highway was reopened at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, CareFlite, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
