KAUFMAN, Texas — Two cows were struck and killed by two vehicles, separately, on U.S. Highway 175 on Monday night as they attempted to cross the highway.
The accidents were reported at approximately 8 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 175 just west of Farm-to-Market (FM) 1390. Initially, one accident was called in for a vehicle that struck a cow on the highway and, as emergency personnel were responding, a second accident was reported involving a vehicle and a cow.
No injuries were reported to the occupants of the vehicles. Two trucks were towed from the scene due to damage sustained from striking the cows.
A tractor was called to remove the cows, both black in color, from the highway. As of 9:06 p.m., the outside lane of eastbound U.S. Highway 175 remains closed while a wrecker removes the second vehicle.
