KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Two new school zone speed cameras have been added to the Kaufman County School Zone Safety program.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Two new school zone speed cameras have been added to the Kaufman County School Zone Safety program.
The cameras were added last month and began ticketing on April 29, 2015.
School zone speed cameras will operate during the morning and afternoon hours on school days to capture images of vehicles traveling in excess of six miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit. The fine amount for speeding in school zones is $150.
The program also includes school bus stop-arm cameras countywide. These cameras activate when the bus stop arm is deployed and capture an image of the vehicle’s license plate and a brief video clip of the violation. There is a $350 fine if you pass a school bus with its stop arm deployed.
“These school zone safety cameras bring a new look and enhanced flexibility to a program designed to change driver behavior for the protection of students on their way to and from school,” stated a release from Kaufman County.
The new school zone speed safety cameras will rotate among the following schools:
North Forney High School
Blackburn Elementary School
O.B. Johnson Elementary School
Brown Middle School School
Claybon Elementary School
Crandall Elementary School
Crandall High School
Warren Middle School
Criswell Elementary School
Wood Elementary School
Furlough Middle School
Terrell High School
Rhea Elementary School
