FORNEY, Texas (City of Forney) – Last week, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) informed the City of Forney that the intersection of FM 740 and Ridge Crest Road met the criteria necessary for signalization. The project was given the final approval on April 17, and the completion of the project is anticipated to up to eight months, weather permitting.

As part of the approval, TxDOT completed a field study at the site to examine the physical and operational aspects of the intersection. This study included the analysis of accident records from the previous thirty-six (36) month period, weekday traffic volume counts from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and much more.

While the intersection of FM 740 and Ridge Crest Road was approved for a signal, TxDOT determined that as of now the intersection of FM 548 and Falcon Way/Mason Boulevard does not meet the minimum requirements for signalization. Currently, TxDOT policy excludes an intersection from having more than one signal warrant study in a twelve (12) month period. Once this timeframe has elapsed, the City will again request for a signal warrant study to be completed at the FM 548 and Falcon Way/Mason Boulevard intersection.
