KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has approved a $4.2 million project to widen Farm-to-Market (FM) 2728 from State Highway (SH) 34, north of Kaufman, Texas, to I-20.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has approved a $4.2 million project to widen Farm-to-Market (FM) 2728 from State Highway (SH) 34, north of Kaufman, Texas, to I-20.
The 6.4-mile project will add three-foot safety shoulders to the road and will also add turn lanes on FM 2728 north of I-20 at County Road (CR) 346. The beginning construction date will be determined in upcoming meetings between TxDOT and the contractor, APAC-Texas, Inc., according to TxDOT Public Information Officer Michelle Releford.
“Like all of Texas, the urban areas of our state will continue to see rapid population growth,” said Commissioner Victor Vandergriff. “Relieving congestion on our roadways not only improves our quality of life, but also enhances economic opportunities. We are pleased to partner with state and local entities who share our vision of keeping Texas moving.”
8.715 miles of FM 2728 from FM 429 to U.S. Highway 80 will also be widened, according to TxDOT’s website. The project has already been funded and is currently in the design phases.
