FORNEY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation recently restriped the Pinson Road bridge from two lanes to four lanes — a move anticipated since the completion of the Pinson Road expansion project in May 2014.
The restriping of the Pinson Road bridge was completed on Friday, January 29, 2015, according to Forney Assistant City Manager Gina Nash.
All four lanes are pass-through lanes at the north and south intersections with the frontage road loops. One major difference drivers should note is the right southbound lane at the south frontage road loop that was a turn-only lane is now a straight or turn lane. Drivers turning onto Pinson Road southbound from the frontage road should use caution.
The widening of Pinson Road north of the bridge was made possible by voter-approved bonds in 2006. The project expanded Pinson Road from a two-lane asphalt road to four concrete lanes with curbs, underground drainage, and sidewalks.
Pinson Road now continues with four lanes from its intersection with Ranch Road and Ridgecrest Road north of U.S. Highway to its intersection with Broad Street south of U.S. Highway 80.
