FORNEY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has warranted a traffic signal at the intersection of State Highway (SH) 205 and Farm-to-Market (FM) 548.
The contract to install the signal was approved last year and the design for the light is currently at 75 percent, according to TxDOT spokesperson Michelle Releford.
“Once the design is completed, a work order will be issued to the contractor, they will order materials, and construct the signal,” Releford told inForney.com.
Releford says construction usually takes 20 to 30 days once design is complete and materials are finished. Once complete, there will be a 30-day test period, according to Releford.
The intersection is also expected to get a dedicated left turn lane from northbound SH 205 to westbound FM 548.
Officials are also seeking to widen SH 205 from U.S. Highway 80 in Terrell to SH 78 in Lavon. In January 2016, a TxDOT firm begin the initial planning process which could take approximately 18 months.
