FORNEY, Texas — A hydraulic fluid spill on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at the Dallas-Kaufman County line caused one lane of traffic —of only two eastbound lanes— to be closed for more than seven hours and caused two to three hour delays for drivers.
FORNEY, Texas — A hydraulic fluid spill on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at the Dallas-Kaufman County line caused one lane of traffic —of only two eastbound lanes— to be closed for more than seven hours and caused two to three hour delays for drivers.
The spill forced the closure of the right lane of eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at the East Fork Trinity River near the Dallas-Kaufman County line at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014.
A HAZMAT crew from Farmers Branch arrived on scene at approximately 8:45 p.m. and estimated the lane would be closed until at least 10:30 p.m., according to Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend.
The Texas Department of Transportation and HAZMAT crews cleared the scene at approximately 10:46 p.m. — nearly six hours after the lane was initially closed.
Frustrated drivers reported sitting in the traffic back-up from I-635 in Mesquite, Texas, for two to three hours.
