VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A Van Zandt County constable was injured after crashing with a suspect vehicle in a police pursuit on Thursday afternoon.
VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A Van Zandt County constable was injured after crashing with a suspect vehicle in a police pursuit on Thursday afternoon.
The chase ended at approximately 3 p.m. with the crash on Van Zandt County Road 2120 near Van Zandt County Road 2102 after traveling westbound on Interstate 20 and south on State Highway 47 before heading back east towards Canton, Texas.
Van Zandt County Precinct 1 Constable Mickey Henson’s patrol vehicle was rear-ended by the suspect vehicle, described as a white Dodge Ram, which ended the pursuit.
Henson was transported to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital with what have been described as non-life threatening injuries. According to the Constable’s Facebook Page, he was later released having suffered cuts and bruises.
The driver of the truck was taken into custody and evaluated by EMS. His identity has not yet been released.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Wills Point Police Department, and a Texas Game Warden were involved in the pursuit. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office was requested to stage near the Kaufman-Van Zandt County line in the event the pursuit entered Kaufman County.
Champion EMS and the Canton Fire Department were requested following the crash. Two Champion EMS ambulances responded with a helicopter on standby.
