FORNEY, Texas — This year’s annual Veterans Day ceremony and the Turkey Trax Auto Show will be held on two different days, Saturday, November 8, 2014, and Sunday, November 9, 2014, respectively.
FORNEY, Texas — This year’s annual Veterans Day ceremony and the Turkey Trax Auto Show will be held on two different days, Saturday, November 8, 2014, and Sunday, November 9, 2014, respectively.
The Veterans Day ceremony will be held at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Guest speakers at the ceremony will include Forney Mayor Darren Rozell, DFW Honor Flight representative Donna Sedota, Merchant Marine Veteran R. Nelson Smith, and the keynote speaker United States Army Veteran First Sergeant Gordon M Butler.
The Forney High School Choir, Rhea Elementary Choir, local Boy Scout troops, and the Forney Independent School District Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will participate in the ceremony. Seating for veterans will be provided and additional lawn seating is available for attendees. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.
The City of Forney Economic Development Department will hold the annual Turkey Trax Auto Show, in conjunction with Unique Karz, in historic downtown Forney on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Organizers expects more than a hundred 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, vintage, classic, low-rider, and collector cars.
Live music, food trucks, and concessions will be available at the auto show. There will also be kid games, a mechanical bull ride, and a bounce house. Bring a canned goods or cash donations for the Forney Food Pantry to receive a raffle ticket — $1 or one canned good per ticket.
Both events are free to attend and open to the general public.
