FORNEY, Texas — The Forney community is mourning another tragic loss, having lost a mother-of-three earlier this week in a vehicular crash, after a 5-year-old boy involved in a near-drowning incident on Sunday passed away, according to family and friends.
A candlelight vigil will be held this Sunday, August 9, 2015, at 6 p.m. at the Travis Ranch Amenity Center, according to the Travis Ranch residents’ Benevolence Committee. Additionally, a GoFundMe account has been created to assist the family with medical costs incurred during the boys’ hospitalization as well as funeral costs.
The boy, identified by family and friends as 5-year-old Christian Henderson, was hospitalized after a near-drowning incident on Sunday at the Travis Ranch community pool. Henderson was flown to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, but succumbed to injuries sustained in the drowning incident several days later.
Travis Ranch residents have begun hanging red ribbons throughout their community in honor of Christian who would have turned 6 years old on Tuesday — red was his favorite color. Ribbons will be hung around the pool on Saturday at 9 a.m.
