TERRELL, Texas — Westbound Spur 557 is closed following a multi-vehicle wreck on Sunday morning which resulted in one person being transported to an area hospital.
At approximately 8 a.m., the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to westbound Spur 557 at the U.S. Highway 80 merger for a truck hauling a trailer that jackknifed on the Spur 557 overpass.
While emergency personnel were responding, another vehicle struck the trailer the truck was hauling.
Westbound traffic is being diverted onto the frontage road and onto westbound U.S. Highway 80.
One person was transported by CareFlite ambulance to Lake Pointe Medical Center in Forney, Texas.
As of 8:40 a.m., the highway remained closed.
