FORNEY, Texas — Westbound U.S. Highway 80 is closed at Gateway Boulevard in Forney.
A heavy-duty wrecker is working to remove an 18-wheeler from the right shoulder of the highway under the Gateway Bridge. Highway traffic is being diverted onto the service road at the Gateway Boulevard exit.
The 18-wheelers right side wheels have gone off the shoulder of the highway which is causing the 18-wheeler to slightly tilt.
The wrecker was notified of the 18-wheeler just after noon and it was removed from the shoulder of the highway just after 1 p.m. Both lanes of the highway have been re-opened.
A CareFlite ambulance responded to the area of the highway closure for a driver who was suffering from a medical emergency. That driver was transported to a nearby hospital.
An SUV and a U-Hual truck were also involved in a minor crash in the backup. No injuries were reported in this crash.
Another minor crash was reported minutes later on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at the Trinity River bridges.
