KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Kaufman County which will go into effect at 3 p.m. Wednesday until noon on Thursday.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Kaufman County which will go into effect at 3 p.m. Wednesday until noon on Thursday.

Freezing rain is expected to transition to sleet and snow later this afternoon as the temperatures continue to drop in the area. One-tenth of an inch of ice accumulations are expected with up to there inches of snow accumulations.

Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated Wednesday evening into Thursday.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect for Kaufman County from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday for sustained north winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with wind gusts between 35 and 40 miles per hour. Power outages are possible due to ice accumulations and strong winds.

“Strong north winds combined with cold temperatures will result in wind chill values in the single digits and teens,” according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are urged to use caution while on area roads.
