Guest and Gray/Republican Party Lawsuit Dismissed- Update

MITCHELL COUNTY, Texas — In 2024, the Republican Party of Texas filed a lawsuit in Mitchell County against Guest and Gray, P.C. and two of its attorneys, Elizabeth Alvarez and Scott Gray. While the filing generated interest at the time, InForney.com could not locate any prior coverage of the case’s resolution. Given that Guest and Gray is the largest law firm in Kaufman County and one of the premier election law firms in Texas, it’s worth revisiting how the matter concluded.

Case Dismissed With Prejudice

Court records show that on September 3, 2024, the Republican Party of Texas filed a Notice of Nonsuit With Prejudice, permanently dismissing all claims against Guest and Gray, P.C., Alvarez, and Gray. The following day, Judge Ginny Rivera of the 32nd Judicial District Court of Mitchell County signed the order officially dismissing the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Each party was ordered to bear its own costs.

Guest and Gray’s Record in Election Law

Guest and Gray Law Firm has built a statewide reputation for its success in election law and voter integrity cases, including being one of the few firms in Texas to successfully litigate an election fraud case. The firm’s attorneys have represented clients across Texas in matters involving ballot disputes, recounts, candidate eligibility, and election integrity, helping to ensure the fairness and transparency of the state’s electoral process.

The firm’s legal team is also recognized for defending the constitutional rights of Texas voters while working cooperatively with state and local officials to promote lawful elections.

Statement From Guest and Gray

In a statement following the dismissal, Guest and Gray thanked the Republican Party for their cooperation and emphasized the importance of unity in protecting election fairness:

“We want to thank the Republican Party of Texas for helping bring this case to an amicable resolution. We appreciate their professionalism and commitment to fair elections. Guest and Gray looks forward to working together in the future on behalf of all candidates and voters who believe in open, transparent, and lawful elections.”

The dismissal concludes a brief but high-profile dispute and reinforces Guest and Gray’s reputation as a trusted authority in election and political law. While the 2024 lawsuit raised questions at the time, the court’s dismissal with prejudice confirms that the matter was resolved fully and permanently.

As Kaufman County continues to grow and statewide attention on elections increases, Guest and Gray remains committed to ensuring that Texans can participate freely and fairly in every election — a principle the firm has defended for more than two decades.
