KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Several Kaufman County-area football teams have been named Top 10 in the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Coaches Preseason Poll which was released earlier this month.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Several Kaufman County-area football teams have been named Top 10 in the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Coaches Preseason Poll which was released earlier this month.
Terrell, Kaufman, and Crandall, all in District 8-4A, were each named to the Class 4A, Division I, Region II Top 10 list with Terrell at 5th, Kaufman in 7th, and Crandall in 10th.
Terrell, which finished last season 9-3, also received a 1st place vote. Kaufman finished last season with an 8-4 record and Crandall with a 4-7 record.
District 8-4A contender, Van High School, tied for 2nd in the ranking with Midlothian Heritage. Kennedale took 1st place.
In Class 3A, Division I, Region II, Kemp High School took 7th place and nearby Sunnyvale took 6th place. Moving up in the poll, from 5th to 1st, are Farmersville, White Oak, Jefferson, Mineola, and Pottsboro.
In District 15-5A, Forney High School, North Forney High School, and Royse City failed to garner any votes while District 15-5A contender and returning State Champion Highland Park was named 1st place and Mesquite Poteet took 3rd place. Other District 15-5A contenders who received votes but were not ranked include Wylie East with eight, West Mesquite with four, and Lucas Lovejoy with two.
