FORNEY, Texas — The Forney High School Jackrabbits dropped their season opener to Whitehouse on Friday, 15-31.

The opener, which also served as senior night for Forney, was marred by six turnovers on both sides of the ball — four to fumbles and two to interceptions.

Whitehouse narrowly edged Forney in offensive yards, accumulating 251 compared to 168, and 10 first downs to Forney's 8.

In the second quarter, Forney's Jake White connected with Braden Benjamin for a touchdown and, in the fourth, Jayln Phillips rushed for a 16-yard touchdown. White also rushed for a two-point conversion.

The Jackrabbits prepare for another non-district home game next week against Midlothian High School.
