Forney High School's DesRochers named SportsDay All-Area Player of the Year, District 15-5A MVP, All-State

FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School state championship pitcher and Kansas pledge, Savanna DesRochers, was named Dallas Morning News' SportsDay's All-Area Player of the Year, the District 15-5A Most Valuable Player, and was named all-state selection by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School state championship pitcher and Kansas pledge, Savanna DesRochers, was named Dallas Morning News' SportsDay's All-Area Player of the Year, the District 15-5A Most Valuable Player, and was named all-state selection by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

DesRochers helped lead the Forney High School Lady Jackrabbits softball team to its first state championship this year, not only for the team but for the district.

DesRochers, a sophomore, went 28-4 with a 1.02 ERA, hit .584 with 56 RBIs, and tied for second in the Dallas area with 12 home runs, according to the Dallas Morning News.

In her state championship performance, which the team dedicated to their fallen teammate, 14-year-old Emily Galiano, DeRochers was named MVP.
