Forney youth take top placements, set state records, and earn championships at USA Weightlifting Youth National Championships in Atlanta

FORNEY, Texas β€” Several Forney youth recently competed in the USA Weightlifting Youth National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia β€” bringing home top placements, setting new Texas state records, and earning several championships.

FORNEY, Texas β€” Several Forney youth recently competed in the USA Weightlifting Youth National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia β€” bringing home top placements, setting new Texas state records, and earning several championships.

The youth, competing out of CrossFit Forney’s youth program, Forney Barbell, competed in the event on June 24 and 25. Those competing were 9-year-old Marcos Ruiz, 10-year-old Caitlin Everett, 12-year-old Bryton Danner, 12-year-old Elizabeth Abramson, 13-year-old Coy Whitley, and 14-year-old Rees Cooksy. All had previously qualified for the national championships through previously held events.

In their respective categories with Ruiz taking 6th overall, Danner took 12th overall, Abramson took 3rd overall, Whitley took 7th overall, and Cooksy took 2nd overall.

10-year-old Everett competed in the 11U and 13U 35kg categories, went 6 for 6, brought home 6 gold medals, set three Texas state records, and won both categories β€” becoming a double national champion.
