FORNEY, Texas — The Kansas City Chiefs have selected North Forney High School graduate Armani Watts in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Former Falcon and Texas A&M Aggie safety, Watts, went 124th overall in the draft on Saturday afternoon.
As a North Forney Falcon, Watts was named Class 4A All-State with 64 tackles and nine interceptions his senior year. That same year, on offense, Watts contributed some 446 receiving yards and 233 rushing yards. Also his senior year, Watts was named 1st Team All-Area by the Dallas Morning News, 1st Team All-Texas by Dave Campbell's Football, and 1st Team All-District on offense and defense.
His senior year at Texas A&M, Watts was named 2017 AP All-America Third Team and 2017 First Team All-SEC as the Aggies defensive team captain. He racked up 82 tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles as a starter in all 12 games.
Watts' senior season highlights include, according to his Texas A&M profile: a selection to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl; 13 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two pass breakups at UCLA; picked off two passes and had eight tackles, including two for loss, against Louisiana; sealed the victory in OT against Arkansas with an interception in the endzone; made six tackles and intercepted a pass at Florida; notched 11 tackles and blocked a kick against Mississippi State; blocked a kick and had 10 tackles against Auburn; and forced a fumble and registered 11 tackles at LSU.
