The head line performance for the Forney ISD runners on this day was definitely turned in by North Forney’s freshman sensation Lexus Eudy. At the beginning of the race, a very focused Ms. Eudy made sure to stay with the lead pack of runners.

Later in the race, she also made a powerful move as she climbed one of the hills on the course. By climbing that hill so emphatically, Ms. Eudy was definitely making sure her presence was being felt by her competition. Then, as she made her way down the final straight away, Ms. Eudy was running hard with her eyes looking directly at the finish line.

In the end, Lexus finished the three-mile race in 13th place. Her time was a very strong 19:37.75. Now, the process in which an individual runner can qualify for the State Meet is quite complex. Here is my best explanation. First, the Top 4 Teams in the standings at the Regional Meet qualify to the State Meet. Then, after that, the Top 10 individual finishers not on one of those Top 4 Teams, will qualify for the State Meet as well. To put it simply, Lexus was one of those Top 10 individual finishers. So, now, Lexus is headed to Round Rock’s Old Setter’s Park—the site of the State Meet.

After the Regional race, Lexus happily took some photos with her family, friends, and coaches to celebrate her fantastic achievement.

The State Cross Country Meet is scheduled to take place at Round Rock’s Old Settler’s Park on Saturday, November 4th. The 5A Girls race is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. Good luck to Ms. Lexus Eudy.

Also, on this day, the Forney Lady Rabbit team of junior Cassidy Hill (47th in a time of 20:55), freshman Laisha Garcia (55th in a time of 21:04), junior Drisany Hernandez, junior Arissa Ramirez, senior Juley Andino, senior Kylee Brees, and senior Emma Hanley competed at the Regional Meet. For the record, they finished 13th in the team standings (out of 23 teams). There were 175 runners in the girls’ race.

Also, in the boys’ race, Nathan Weed, a Forney High School junior, finished 109th in a time of 18:28. There were 179 runners in the boys’ race.
