North Forney won the toss and opted to receive — setting the game’s tempo by scoring in the first 61 seconds of the matchup on a swinging-gate formation, 66-yard drive on four plays capped by a 21-yard pass from Colby Suits to Jordan Carroll.
Head Coach Randy Jackson tipped his hat to the North Forney Falcon defense which kept the Lake Dallas Falcons scoreless in the first half of the game.
Carlos Rodriguez capped North Forney’s second drive with a 21-yard field goal and Suits, with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter, pummeled through Lake Dallas’ defense on the goal line to bring the scoring to 17-0.
North Forney’s Willie Thomas intercepted Lake Dallas’ next drive and set up another North Forney touchdown with Suits tossing a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Ennels.
With a little over 3 minutes remaining in the 1st half, Suits connected with Jaydyn Barrall with a 25-yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 30-0.
Lake Dallas seemed poised to score with 30 seconds remaining in the half before Thomas intercepted another Lake Dallas pass, a would-be touchdown, at the goal line.
North Forney went into halftime with a 30-0 lead.
3 minutes into the 2nd half, Suits connected with Carroll on a deep pass for a 78-yard touchdown.
Lake Dallas quarterback Ryan Depperschmidt fired back at 6:28 and 2:51 in the 3rd quarter, ending two consecutive Lake Dallas drives with 10- and 16-yard quarterback keepers, respectively, to tack on 12 points.
Early in the 4th quarter, Suits connected with Ennels on a 10-yard touchdown pass, Depperschmidt contested with a 66-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Engel, and Suits ended the game’s scoring with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Barclay Ford with 6:36 on the clock — leading the North Forney Falcons to a 50-20 victory and an Area-Round Championship.
In 12 games this season, North Forney has averaged 54 points a game, allowing an average of 31.
On the night, Suits passed for 374 yards and 6 touchdowns and rushed for another 26 yards and a touchdown.
On the ground, North Forney’s Calvin Ribera rushed for 154 yards, Jacob Soto for 34 yards, and Nate Miller for 27 yards.
In the air, Carroll caught for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns, Ennels with 60 yards and 2 touchdowns, Barrall with 56 yards and a touchdown, Michael Court with 41 yards, Ford with 28 yards and a touchdown, Corey Johnson with 25 yards, and Corey Mayfield with 16 yards.
The North Forney Falcons will next play Mansfield Legacy, which is coming off a 66-7 win over Kimball, at Allen High School on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2 p.m.
